Our Mission
Hike Haida Gwaii exists to help locals, visitors, and curious explorers discover the trails, beaches, and wild spaces of these islands. Our goal is simple: to be a reliable, respectful, and ever‑growing resource for anyone wanting to experience Haida Gwaii on foot.
We’re committed to sharing clear, honest trail information rooted in lived experience.
Our Story
We began hiking Haida Gwaii about six years ago, starting with a handful of familiar paths and slowly venturing farther. What began as weekend walks turned into a passion for documenting the trails we explored — especially as the 2020 pandemic encouraged more people to seek nature for grounding and well‑being.
Since then, our list of trails has grown steadily. Every time we revisit a path, it feels new: different weather, different tides, different wildlife, different lessons. We’ve learned that exploring Haida Gwaii is never a one‑time experience — it’s a relationship with the land that deepens over time.
Along the way, we’ve met hikers from all over. Some asked for trail advice; others joined us for parts of our adventures (and misadventures). We’re grateful for every conversation, every shared story, and every bit of knowledge passed along.

Our Values
- Respect for the Land — Haida Gwaii is rich with culture, history, and living ecosystems. We encourage mindful exploration that honours the land and its caretakers.
- Community Connection — Trails bring people together. We value the shared wisdom and companionship found along the way.
- Mindful Exploration — Hiking is not just movement; it’s presence, patience, and awareness.
- Well‑being Through Nature — Time with Mother Nature is essential. Some weeks, it’s the reset we rely on most.
- Continuous Learning — Every trail teaches something new — about the land, about ourselves, and about how to explore responsibly.
What You’ll Find Here
Hike Haida Gwaii is an evolving collection of:
- Trail Guides — Difficulty levels, access notes, terrain descriptions, and personal insights.
- Beach Walks — Shoreline routes, tide considerations, and safety tips.
- Local Knowledge — What we’ve learned from hiking here year after year.
- Ongoing Updates — We continue exploring old and new paths, adding information as we go.
This site is not a complete list — Haida Gwaii has far more trails than any one team can cover — but we’re doing our best to grow it thoughtfully.
